Posted by EBISU小編 on
Katsuo-ji Temple was founded in the fourth year of Shengui (727), starting with the thatched cottage built by Shanzhong and Shansuan brothers. The subsequent prince of Emperor Guangren met two masters here and built a temple with 600 volumes of Buddhist scriptures on July 13, the sixth year of Baogui (775), and named it Maitreya Temple.
In the eleventh year of Baogui (780), a monk named Miaoguan brought a piece of white sandalwood with a length of eight feet to visit Maitreya Monastery, and spent a month carving the piece of white sandalwood into a thousand faces. Guanyin of the hands, this thousand-handed Guanyin has become the image of the temple of the temple
When the sixth-generation chief inspector was in charge of the Maitreya Temple, the Qinghe Emperor sent envoys to ask the inspector to go to Beijing to pray for the emperor. The Xing Pao was doing special training at the time, so he couldn't go down the mountain. The envoy said that as long as you are on the emperor's land, you must accept the emperor's orders. When the patrolman heard this, he jumped on his tin cane. The envoy looked at it and said, "Isn't your tin rod also on the emperor's land?" After speaking, the tin staff of the patrolman floated off the ground. Le Shi was speechless and could only go back and report to the Emperor .
When the emperor heard this strange thing, he went to Maitreya Temple to pay homage in person, and said that this temple surpassed him and gave him a famous place. However, the temple said that King Sheng was not very good after all, so the king was changed to the tail with the same pronunciation in Japanese, and it became the Katsuo Temple that is still in use today.
Since then, this place has become a temple for praying for victory. In the past, Genji, Ashikaga, and shoguns of all dynasties came here to pray for victory. Up to now, people come here to pray for victory for exams, warding off evil, illness, sports, business, elections, performing arts activities and other occasions in life where they want to win.
The victory Katsuo-ji prayed for was not to defeat someone, but to defeat himself in the process of going up and down (falling down and getting up again and again). Combining this spirit with the history of Victory Faith, there is "Victory ちダルマ", the birth of Victory Dharma.
*Japan used to make Bodhidharma into a tumbler. No matter how he fell, he would stand up to express the spirit of not being afraid of difficulties and not giving up.
How to make a Dharma wish:
Generally in Japan, Dharma is also used as a wishing item. At the beginning, the eyes of Bodhidharma had no eyeballs. First, the picture of Bodhidharma's right eye should be black, and then a wish should be written on the back of Bodhidharma's body. After the wish is fulfilled, turn the left eye image black, and then report back to the temple. At Katsuoji Temple, this Bodhidharma can also be enshrined in the Bodhidharma shed.
